A few different suggestions on ways to go about leading advent rhythms in your home:
#1: Use the Bible App's "Advent Reflections" daily study (start it on Sunday, Nov 27th or Monday, Nov 28th). You will have 4 weeks of guided content with videos from the Bible Project to start each week. Daily there is a short devotional and scripture that you can take turns reading out loud with your family and reflect on or discuss the questions together.
#2: Purchase a daily advent guide like "Unwrapping the Names of Jesus". Last year we did the study linked above by having our kids take turns reading out-loud and discussing during dinner. Overall, it worked well with our pre-teen and teens. Some of the content might feel a bit more boring for younger kids.
#3: Read a storybook like "Jothams Journey". Our family has read this book several times during Advent over the last few years. I think we started when our youngest was around 7yrs. Note, if you start on December 1, you will have to read every day to keep up and each chapter takes at least 10 minutes of reading out loud. You can start a few days early to take into account that a couple of days might be hard to fit it in through December.
#4: Read a daily story from the Storybook Bible. Great for all ages. Can just read a story/chapter a day starting Dec 1st (I think there are 24 chapters). Can also follow a guide like this person has put together into a printable PDF.
#5: Do a daily scratch off of God's Gifts via a poster that highlights a different scripture each day. I haven't done this one personally, but it seems like it would be great for any aged kids.
With all content suggestions, I'd encourage you to add in something purely fun. For adults, there are advent beer or wine kits available (Kroger has a wine calendar countdown). For our kids over the years, we have done chocolate advent calendars, kits designed to give our cats a treat each day (here's one from Trader Joes), and lego kits like the daily Harry Potter-themed advent calendar.
